Tidy Books News

Which book changed your life?

What was the book that changed your life? Which was your favourite when you were a child?  Chances are, your favourite childhood book changed your outlook on reading, even if you can’t think of one that made a dramatic difference to you.   And in developing countries, books literally do change lives: giving children the gift of literacy, giving health or farming information, or helping teenagers pass important exams for better lives.

That’s why,  in the run-up to World Book Day, we are supporting Book Aid International, and we’d love you to play a part too.  And it’s easy.

Simply go to the Tidy Books Facebook page, and tell us which book changed your life (or your favourite as a child).  For every four nominations, Tidy Books will send a book to Africa, the equivalent of £2 or $3.

As a thank you for getting involved, everyone who nominates a book will be put into a draw to win a Tidy Books Bookcase for kids on World Book Day, on March 3rd.  There will be a special discount on Tidy Books’ products too.

Just to get you started, here are some of the Tidy Books’ staff favourite books:  Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Roald Dahl), Blue Beard (a classic French fairytale by Charles Perrault), The Diddakoi (Rumer Godden) and The Mountain of Adventure, by Enid Blyton.

And you can watch what some of the books that you help Tidy Books donate will do in some of the communities in Africa here. This is Book Aid’s film:   Books Change Lives

So, come and join in, and tell us which book changed your life – and help change another life with a book!

Book Aid International registered charity number 313869.  We hope to develop a long term partnership with Book Aid International and keep on giving.   Tidy Books will donate £2 or $3  for every 4 nominations up to a total of £300.
