You can win 'Hedgehugs' for your child, with Tidy Books kids book review. Perfect for bedtime, Hedgehugs was read on CBeebies Bedtime Stories recently and is the cutest story about friends who want to hug, but can't!
Horace and Hattie are best of friends. They like to do all the hedge-hoggy things together; splashing in puddles, searching for spiders and dancing in the bluebells. They would love to have a hug, but it hurts - they are just too prickly. Follow Horace and Hattie on their adventures as they try all sorts of ways to cover their spikes and share a hug. They roll in snow, wriggle into hollow logs, and jump in autumn leaves until they discover the perfect way to have a soft, warm, snuggly hug!
Hedgehugs was created by illustrator Lucy Tapper who created the characters from old baby clothes, and then teamed with husband Steve Wilson to write the book, which has been awarded People's Book Prize. The story is simple but effective, and the illustrations are bright and friendly. You can watch Steve and Lucy talk about how the story came about in this video.
Hedgehugs is ideal for 1-5 year olds. If your children enjoyed Giles Andreae's 'Giraffes Can't Dance' or 'Oh No George' by Chris Haughton, then Hedgehugs will be a winner. Our 7 and 11 year old reviewers pronounced it 'really cute'.
Hedgehugs is lovely addition to your child's library and you'll discover where all those missing socks have gone!
Maverick Arts Publishing kindly provided a copy of Hedgehugs by Lucy Tapper and Steve Wilson, for this kids book review, published January 2014.
